Experienced Tractor Driver / Operator

Skippers Grounds Maintenance Limited is seeking an experienced Tractor Driver / Operator to join our growing team. We carry out a wide range of works across sports turf, highways, and commercial sites throughout Essex and surrounding counties.

Our work includes sports pitch mowing, verge mowing, hedge cutting, aeration, and general grounds maintenance. We are looking for a reliable and skilled operator with a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

The role will involve:

  • Sports pitch and playing field mowing

  • Verge mowing on highways and open spaces

  • Side-arm hedge cutting

  • Aeration and turf maintenance operations

  • Safe use of tractors and associated machinery

  • Daily maintenance and basic servicing of equipment

  • Driving company vehicles and machinery between sites

  • Communicating with the office and team regarding job progress

  • Following health & safety policies

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience operating tractors and machinery

  • Competent using mowing equipment and side-arm flails

  • Full UK driving licence (trailer licence beneficial)

  • Good understanding of health & safety

  • Physically fit, reliable, and able to work independently

  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check

Grounds Maintenance Operative

Skippers Grounds Maintenance Limited is seeking Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join our growing team. We deliver a wide range of grounds maintenance services across sports facilities, council sites, and commercial properties throughout Essex and surrounding counties.

Our work includes grass cutting, hedge cutting, vegetation management, and supporting sports pitch renovations. We are looking for reliable individuals with a good work ethic and willingness to work as part of a team.

The role will involve:

  • Grass cutting using pedestrian and ride-on mowers

  • Strimming and edging

  • Hedge cutting and general vegetation management

  • Assisting with sports pitch renovations and turf works

  • Safe use of hand tools and small machinery

  • Maintaining tools, equipment, and vehicles

  • Working as part of a team across multiple sites

  • Following health & safety policies

Requirements:

  • Previous grounds maintenance experience preferred

  • Ability to use strimmers, mowers, and hedge cutters

  • Full UK driving licence preferred

  • Physically fit, reliable, and hardworking

  • Willingness to work outdoors in all conditions

  • Willingness to undergo an Enhanced DBS check

Arborist

We are currently seeking a reliable and qualified Arboricultural Groundsman to join our team on the arboriculture services side of the business.

This position is primarily ground-based, with key responsibilities supporting our lead climber during operations. Applicants must hold a valid Aerial Rescue (CS38) certification to ensure safe and effective teamwork on-site.

The role will involve:

  • Assist climbers with rigging, lowering, and clearing operations
  • Operate chainsaws and other arboricultural equipment safely
  • Maintain tools and equipment to a high standard
  • Ensure work sites are kept safe, tidy, and professional
  • Support the team with aerial rescue capability when required

Requirements:

  • Valid NPTC/LANTRA units: CS30, CS31, and CS38 (Aerial Rescue)
  • A strong work ethic with a proactive and professional approach
  • Physically fit and confident in demanding outdoor work
  • Awareness of and commitment to health & safety practices
  • Reliable transport to and from our depot or job sites
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
